Vienna's galleries organizing their own fair after the old ones folded

After Vienna lost both of its main art fairs, a coalition of 35 local galleries formed Vienna Art United and announced a new event, the Astoria Artshow, set for September. They didn't wait for someone else to fill the gap. That choice says something. When the established structure disappears, the interesting question is whether what replaces it reflects the city's actual scene more honestly than what came before. A group of galleries building it from the inside out could shift the dynamics in ways a top down fair never would. Do you think artist run or gallery run fairs tend to make better decisions about what gets shown?
