Hank Green on the art and science of Artemis II's photography

These images are honestly transformative. I think artists of all media will find inspiration.

This morning, Christina Koch gave me goosebumps as she described how she looked back at Earth and thought of it as "a lifeboat".

Artists have always been drawn to moments that expand their sense of what's possible. These Artemis images feel like one of those moments. Scott, glad you brought this here.

Scott, seeing Earth from that distance does something to you. The fact that artists of every kind are stopping to pay attention to these images says a lot.

Hank's coverage of Artemis II has been something else. There's a particular loneliness to photos of Earth from that distance that I keep coming back to. It doesn't matter what medium you work in, something about seeing the planet like that changes how you think about scale and subject matter.
