What natural bits of Mother Nature inspires your art?

I happen to love collecting bits of natural elements in my travels across America and even Europe for the first time last year!

I mark where they're from in a plastic bag to keep track.Those then become parts of an eventual original mixed media piece. This was from collected items at Rockaway Beach Oregon, in a beautiful heavy ornate frame that makes it feel like an heirloom. Hopefully to be passed down through generations of beach memories shared through time!

Framing beach findings like fine art is such a lovely concept. And that driftwood spilling over the frame is a perfect touch!

April, oh that is wonderful to read! Taking an already beautiful and elegant frame and putting that driftwood on it was a real stretch for me, as I've not done that before. It just felt right.

This one is gorgeous, with the driftwood mounted on the ornate frame, giving the whole piece an extra 3D feel beyond just the original relief tile work. I so love this!

I took a risk! And truly it's one of my favorites. I'd had that frame from a vintage store for quite awhile, just sitting in my office. Isn't it wonderful when we push ourselves and others support that crazy decision? Thank you!

Marking each item with where you found it and then weaving them into a framed piece is such a personal way to hold onto a trip. The idea that someone could inherit this and still feel that beach connection decades later really got me.

@Bill Richards that makes my heart sing! I am hoping that eventually someone feels that very moment of the heritage of passing on a special set of beach memorabilia to keep in a family as a reminder of treasured moments shared through generations of good times.

Indra, I LOVE that idea! I do have several gathered items from this particular beach that I've incorporated into a number of pieces. I actually have many places that I've collected real elements, from Alaska to Florida to Arizona and even Italy to name a few!
