Saving a collaborative Instagram Live after the stream ends
Ran a collaborative Live on Instagram last week with two other photographers. We were talking about shooting in low light conditions, film vs digital workflow, that kind of thing. Went well, but when I tried to download the video afterward I couldn't figure out how to actually save it. The option to download seemed to vanish because it was a joint live with multiple people on screen.
I want to keep the recording so I can repurpose parts of it later. Has anyone figured out a reliable way to grab the full video from a collaborative Live? Does the host get different save options than the guests? I'm on the verge of just screen recording next time, which feels like a workaround nobody should need.
Would appreciate hearing what's worked for anyone who's dealt with this.
So from what I've gathered messing around with this myself, the download process for a collaborative live actually works the same as it does for a solo one. When you end the session, you hit that close button and it should save right to your phone. The part that tripped me up at first was the order of things. The host goes live on their own account first, then the other person joins as a viewer and requests to hop on. As long as you're the one who initiated the live, the save option should still be there at the end just like normal. Screen recording definitely works as a backup, but hopefully you won't need it next time.
