This mixed-media memorial sculpture presents the life and love journey of an unknown woman whose estate items were discarded by her family.
Her childhood doll body covered in love letters sent to her darling postmarked early 1940s then accented with intricate lace and delicate embroidery from her wedding dress merging softness with a surreal edge.
The doll's head is replaced by a weathered blue birdhouse found mong the boxes & embellished with broken vintage jewelry recovered from her things creating a striking contrast between vulnerability and structure. The piece expresses themes of confinement and transformation; a discarded life reimagined.
A distinctive addition that can provoke thoughtful conversation in any setting.
