Dawn of Discovery Atabey, the Taíno mother of the waters, watches ships approach the shore. She weeps for what their arrival will bring to her people. Her tears flow toward the sea, while dark clouds gather on the horizon. Beside her, the tree stands for ancestors whose roots were here long before the ships. The painting asks who gets to call this moment a “discovery.” The land and its people already had a story, and the ocean remembers it.
Artist
I create vivid landscapes where oceans, gardens, wildlife, and human stories meet. Through color, reflection, and symbolism, I explore wonder, connection, transformation, and hope.
