Shycap’s Forest Diary is a mixed media artwork of watercolor and gouache that presents Shycap sketching a leaf atop a fallen log while Aron the fox watches quietly from behind the trees. The mushroom’s red cap punctuates layered greens; delicate washes and crisp detail reveal moss, lichen, and the tiny world unfolding on the log. This piece grew from moments I spent alone as a child, hours spent drawing and painting to keep company, and somewhere along that path I found a quiet friend in Aron, an ever-present companion who still watches my work and inspires me. The illustration blends playful character and careful watercolor technique to convey that shy, steady companionship.
