Somehow I lost the urge to keep showing my work since IG is randomly assigning the “right” viewership to posts, and here I am ten months later having the audacity to make another post on IG; I guess, lesson was not learned.
This piece, SDED MF (commissioned by a pretty lady), brought together several techniques imported to make a smooth visual transition from flat to 3D: optical illusion (for depth and overlapping), real objects, and a well controlled chromatic contrasts. Reaching the (theoretical!) 2.5 dimension is a labor of love I definitely enjoy trying to visualize.
The piece started some time ago (not sure exactly when, although some personal notes and sketches date it to 2021) around the word (dear to the pretty lady) and symbols (scroll physically coming out of the canvas, foggy mirror, ivy vine in the sunlight, bright awning fabric) which start to weave a narrative of frustration, missing answers, and the curse of wasted love.
A personal note: having an unfinished canvas taking up space in the studio is a burden one feels the Sisyphean need to keep on improving.
So, to whom it may concern, sign the < MoThErFuCkEr > and be done with it!
