Story behind the artwork. Knowing that the poppy , as a flower of remembrance, symbolizes all fallen soldiers of the Commonwealth countries who have lost their lives here since WWI , or in other conflicts to date, and knowing , through my biological English side of the family , that several of my direct ancestors served here, as well as uncles and cousins of their generations , one of whom was killed on the Somme and one of whom went down with his plane on his first day flying during the Manchester blitz in his own country during WWII. All the others survived , with pieces of themselves that have remained here forever, as with most veterans to date. The skull is double. On the one hand , it represents the death and destruction of those wars , but at the same time something that has a story between my mother and me regarding my father , of which this, together with the rest , is a joint, shortened version of how my HERITAGE is processed and connected in this work
