Description
Bespoke illuminated ceiling panels lead through Broadgate Central, the new retail arcade connecting Liverpool Street with the wider Broadgate campus. The repeating lines were the first thing that caught my attention in this view through Broadgate Central. The ceiling panels, escalators and glass balustrades all converge towards the middle of the photograph, producing a surprisingly strong sense of symmetry for what is essentially a busy route through a shopping and dining development. Broadgate Central opened in 2025 and occupies space within 1 Broadgate and 100 Liverpool Street, creating a connection between Liverpool Street Station and Finsbury Avenue Square. Broadgate One feature I found particularly interesting afterwards was the ceiling. The illuminated panels aren't simply standard fittings: bespoke LED ceiling panels were produced for the development, based on lighting design by Speirs Major. Speirs Major The solitary person at the bottom finishes the scene for me by giving all those architectural lines a sense of scale. Which catches your eye first — the symmetry, the lighting or the person at the bottom? 📍 Broadgate Central, City of London
