Artist's Statement: Endured As
The work, titled Endured As, is an existential reflection on the nature of legacy and unconditional compassion. It visualizes the death of a simple man whose entire oeuvre comprised just three years of relentless dedication to spreading love, primarily through acts of compassion and truly listening to everyone, indiscriminately.
The central image is the cross entrenched into a rock, serving as a monumental symbol of permanence. The rock is the unshakeable witness to history, emphasizing that the sacrifice is not fleeting but incrustated—a fixed part of our collective foundation.
Surrounding this solemn structure is a chaotic tapestry of abstracts and vibrant colors. These represent the diversity and the boundless reach of the love that man diffused. They are the fragments of memory, the echoes of countless individual encounters, and the universal spectrum of humanity that his message touched without prejudice.
The title poses the essential question: WHY has this simple message endured? Why has the memory of a man whose only work was humanity and love become so deeply entrenched in history and collective consciousness? Endured As seeks to capture this paradox—the immense, lasting power found in the simplest, most selfless actions.
