At the southern tip of windward Oahu lies Waimanalo, a rural community with lots of plant nurseries and no highrises. It is bordered along the sea by the longest stretch of beach on the island of Oahu, and along the mountains by the breathtakingly sheer drop of the Koolau range. In this early mornig view the long shadows are giving way to to the rising sun whose warmth gives rise to the patchwork of clouds scuttling by overhead. The undulating hills casting their shadow in the foreground divide the community of Waimanalo from Kailua.
