Paddlers heading out to the seclusion of offshore beaches.
Pacific island canoe culture has grown tremendously since I was a kid paddling around in the canal where I grew up. It was a regular thing to hear the big six man canoes approaching with a "hut...ho!" and paddles plunging in unison. Today these have almost all been replaced by scores of one man outriggers, usually in pairs, and on weekends groups of them, mostly women, working out together on the water. And on relatively calm days like this, they venture out into the bay.
