from Witches, The Devil and a King Collection. a developing collection that explores James VI, King of Scots influence on the Witch trails starting with his involvement in the North brewick withc trails and hi book demonology which influenced the withc trials in scotland this collection is in black and white with smoke effects to bring out the mystery and drama. some images like this one the smoke is manipulated into shapes relating to the story James VI’s fear of witchcraft was tied to his belief the divine right of kings and his self-importance. He presented himself as so important the devil wanted to kill him and saw himself as the white knight descending from the heavens with two crowns to defeat the devil, echoing the figure from the Book of Revelation. This metaphor became more prevalent when he united the crowns od Scotland and England.
