The entire Los Angeles area is connected here, on the top of Mt Wilson, nearly 5,000 feet above the Los Angeles basin. It is here that the information that feeds all of the inhabitants of Los Angeles receive their news, weather, sports and entertainment. These towers transmit most of the television and radio signals throughout the LA area. I captured them on a large format camera from the parking lot of the famous Mt. Wilson Observatory, during a 15 minute exposure. This single long exposure allowed me to capture the low light level of the actual towers, and also the passing of the stars and they glide gracefully behind the towers. - This photo was captured during a 15 minute exposure of the towers, and they broadcast their entertainment into the LA basin. During that period of time, the earth slowly rotated on is axis, as it has for millions of years, causing the faint stars to appear to move slightly in the sky. While my shutter was open, it recorded this movement as a circular pattern onto the film. It is as if the center of that pattern is emanating from the towers, just like the radio and TV signals do. With available size over 8 feet tall, the amount of detail in this print does not disappoint. You can see every beam from every tower in clear detail. Each star trail is nicely rendered in the tall format. It clearly is a work of art that deserves to be on your wall.
