Description
Surrounded by vibrant green foliage, a solitary female figure emerges from the darkness, her flowing lines blending into the textures of the natural world. Her faceless presence evokes a quiet search for identity, while the surrounding leaves suggest a sense of shelter, belonging and protection. Part of the Mauri Ora Te Reo collection, this work explores the connection between identity, land and belonging. In contrast to the collection’s more confronting pieces, Cloak of the Land offers a gentler, more contemplative moment — a space to breathe, reconnect and simply be. The land becomes a cloak, holding the figure in a quiet, enduring connection to the natural world. Mysterious and ethereal, she remains both part of the land and on a journey of her own.
