Description

We took three days to backpack to Kaweah Basin by way of Shepherd Pass and Junction Meadow; a lot of vertical ascent and descent. We arrived in forest fire smoke and were so taken by the beauty we spent three nights, and never saw another footprint. On our first night cold and rain clouds replaced the smoke which dropped below us, and the lake was mostly calm at sunrise. I told my friend as I passed his tent, "You don't want to miss this." Another delight from Sequoia National Park backpacking.
