Petal Ballet presents a slender butterfly perched among white blossoms, its patterned wings rendered in soft washes of yellow, orange and onyx against a cool, speckled sky. The composition balances careful botanical detail—veined leaves and clustered petals—with airy color transitions that let light feel like a guest at the scene.
I painted this on a Ramar panel (watercolor paper bonded to aluminum), using layered washes and crisp brushwork to keep details vivid and the surface stable. The result is delicate yet durable, with a paper texture that plays nicely with the luminosity of the pigments.
10x10 Original Watercolor painted on a Ramar panel (watercolor paper bonded on aluminum) with a wax sealant.
