Description
There are paintings that whisper, and then there are ones that sing a single bright note. The Lone Mandarin is that clear, citrus tone—simple, honest, impossible to ignore. I wanted this piece to be a small celebration of solitude. One ripe mandarin sits on a worn wooden surface, its skin lit from a soft, directional light. The orange seems almost to glow against a deep, dusky background, while the attached leaves arch protectively, their veins and textures rendered with the same care I gave the fruit. The contrast between the warm fruit and the cool, shadowy space around it makes the mandarin feel both vulnerable and proud—an intimate moment frozen in paint.
