Description
In "Snow Buntings' Playground", I wanted to create a winter scene that feels both peaceful and alive…a place where the snow buntings could play freely—somewhere that feels sheltered, but not still. The moody muted sky and winter light hold the scene in a cool hush, while the hot violets moving across the snow and through the water bring in a pulse of energy, like life stirring just beneath the surface.
Much of my work explores the balance between stillness and movement, softness and intensity, calm and emotional depth. In this painting, those contrasts come together in a place that feels like a small sanctuary—one that invites you to pause, breathe, and look a little longer.
That contrast is what I keep coming back to in my work: the way opposing feelings can exist together without canceling each other out. Quiet and alive. Cold and electric. Restful and a little wild. In this little oil painting of a winter sanctuary, all of it gets to belong.
