Description
As I was walking up the steps to my home after an afternoon garden party, I paused at the top of the steps and looked back over my shoulder. The colorful pillows seemed to whisper and giggle the joy of good friends long after they’d left the “room”. The feeling is what inspired this painting. “Pillow Talk” looks like the perfect backyard gathering spot—soft cushions, a glowing fire pit, dappled sunlight through the trees, with a view of the ocean on the horizon. It’s the kind of place people imagine for laughter and wine and easy conversation. But for me, this scene is also about the quieter talks that happen when the guests leave: the confessions whispered in the low light, the truths you only say when you feel safe enough. This piece holds space for both: the joy of connection and the honest, vulnerable words that only come out when you’re finally off-stage.
