"MATRYOSHKA" was a response to the solitude and uncertainty of quarantine. Amidst the coldness of isolation, I turned to the canvas, seeking the solace of color and the simple beauty of nature. Inspired by the desire to infuse everyday objects with the vibrancy of blooming flowers, I found comfort in the familiar, drawing upon the rich tradition of Russian Folk Art and the iconic Matryoshka dolls. This piece, a blend of personal memory and collective nostalgia, became a source of comfort and connection across the bounds of solitude.
MATRYOSHKA, the first of these floral paintings on canvas, and my personal favorite, holds a special place in my heart.
