Silent Watcher.

At the weekend I photographed this common frog at my local pond. A week or so earlier I’d noticed a lot of frogspawn here, so I went back to see if any of the adults were around. The pond was full of quiet activity, frogs swimming, surfacing, then disappearing again amongst the submerged foliage. I loved this moment of stillness, with the frog pausing at the surface, half-hidden in the dark water and plants around it. It felt like I’d been allowed a brief glimpse into their world before it slipped back beneath the surface.

Burrowing Owls

I plan to explore western Nebraska this summer looking for landscape and wildlife photo ops. One of my priorities is Burrowing Owls. Can anyone here offer any tips or suggestions?

A snowglobe of monarchs migrating

I tend to gravitate, like most photographers, to the big, showy animals when thinking of wildlife. However, sometimes it's about the volume, or the sum of the parts. Here, during the peak of the monarch migration, a small critter, measured by the millions, can have an outsized impact to the viewer.

Wild Eyes in Borneo

Unlike other great apes, orangutans tend to make eye contact with a beautiful curiosity. It's not aggression at all, but intrigue. Capturing the moment hits differently when locking eyes with this fella.
