Éditions Limitées
Traduit depuis English

I’m in a quandary about how to handle limited editions on my site. The ASF video on the topic recommends offering something that’s available until the edition is sold out; such as image x1 on medium y1 in size z1, signed.
The number of permutations and combinations is large, when you consider the number of available sizes and mediums.
I had a conversation with a painter and fine art photographer at a gallery one afternoon, wherein we discussed a photograph in the gallery show with an edition of 300. We all agreed, that did not feel exclusive or special or very limited, and they recommended to me to limit the number of prints for an image, regardless of medium or size.
Another friend, renting in a high end community near Palm Springs, has millionaire friends for neighbors, and one or two told her that with an open edition print, you can’t have a party to show it off to your friends, because anyone in the neighborhood could own it, also.
When I’ve looked at ASF’s limited edition tools, I don’t see where I can offer one image, in any given edition size, at any print size (to be selected by the buyer), or on any given medium (their choice), with a corresponding price assigned by me. Has anyone seen that exists?
How do other photographers handle limited editions?
