I've been working on this floral diptych, and today I overworked it. The little bird just needed some eye detail, but I kept on painting and messed up the body. Who else regrets overworking their paintings? Charlene, Columbus, MT.

This also happens to me sometimes, I think it's going to be the final touch then, agggh!

It can be maddening, right? Once in a while, it’s a positive for me though.

I always do this and have to physically stop myself from adding more.

I have an oil painting I've been overworking for over seven years now... I'm sure I should have stopped at some point but now I'm lost! I call it the cursed painting I now just keep it as a joke but every now and then I'll add more paint to it to see if it wants to be finished 😂
2
LOL, 7 years! It must really want to be finished if you haven't turned the whole thing white and started over.

Gayle Rich-BoxmanMar 10, 2026
While reading a biography about Da Vinci I guess he never finished a painting!
1
i have paintings i haven't touched for 14 years, one i had worked on for at least 15. My thoughts were, if i learn more to complete this, or if its worth completeing i will before I die. lol so you are definitely not alone.
0
Charlene Anne Wilson - Shoutout to Columbus, MT! I haven't been able to visit there in years (grew up near Missoula, lived for years near Billings). I didn't identify the diptych you were working on -- did you upload it? That can be really frustrating to overwork something a bit. With my workflow, it's probably a bit easier because I can often go back a few steps, or if I really did it badly, go back to the original file and start over.
1
Small world. I uploaded the diptych but made the pic private...the piece is not ready for public consumption ;-) I'm into abandoned places too! Is there a way to share pix in this Megathread?
0
I'd double-check with Staff, but I suspect that when you upload a new piece directly into a comment, it doesn't necessarily also load to the ArtHelper portfolio. Which is an excellent question, so I'm going to ask!

Edit edit edit, right??
1
I recently did that on a commissioned piece and had to undo my tweaks. I had it right when I first showed it to the client.
0
Yes!! I just have to do that 0one more thing” then before I know it I’ve done 25! Then the damage is done. I worked as the lead Graphic Designer for many years in 2 different companies. When I’m actually painting I have to keep reminding myself I don’t have an undo or back button!! lol But I am sorry you feel you over did it.
1
undo, wouldn't that be cool. i would definitelly undo a lot of my life and work. But hey, Ive painted over a lot of my work, It was mostly because supplies are expensive, and i judged some paintings to be just exercises in futility.
0
Thanks for responding. I am new to this platform and ASF. I am a watercolorist and cannot reuse my materials, if I could, I'd certainly have quite a few I couldn't "undo", I wish I could reuse the expensive papers!! Good luck moving forward!
0
Ugh! I feel your pain! As an art teacher, I was often having to really pay attention to my students and their work, catching them and making them pause and reflect at that point I see them just beginning to overwork, asking if at that moment they felt they achieved their initial intention. Usually just that pause to reflect does it. (the older kids) or physically taking their work, gushing over it and giving them a chance for a new painting (the younger ones) ME? Well I get so involved in my work, that I sometimes do the same thing! Haha! Still, sometimes the "redo" turns out way better because I have learned from my mistakes.

Hi I'm @lidiabartlam_art on Instagram and I'm looking for art friends there as I'm having trouble growing! I follow back and I'm very active. I'm from Lisbon Portugal and I do dark surreal drawings and paintings and the occasional Fanart, last one I did was Catwoman from the Tim Burton movie
5
How do you get the rights to do paintings of famous people? I did a painting from a photo of Princess Di years ago and have been afraid to list and try to sell it.
0
TOM ANGMar 11, 2026
I think the key issue is how transformative (read: interpretative, inventive, creative, parodic, caricatural) the depiction is. The more literal, the closer you skirt to trouble.
Also whether it's a one-off painting or, say, a T-shirt. Commercial use is clearly no-no.
If your painting used elements in the photo, you need to be careful. In the UK, there's generally no posthumous portrait right but La Princess is a subject I'd suggest you tip-toe around.
1
My thoughts exactly. I guess I could use it to advertise my portrait work.
1
TOM ANGMar 13, 2026
You could do what lawyers call 'belt and braces': say the painting's not for sale, just a practice run.

Hello Everyone! My name is Stacey Campbell and I am a nature, travel, landscape photographer based out of Wisconsin. I began my journey as a photographer to capture family photos when my husband was diagnosed with cancer. I then used it as a way to focus on the good, the majestic and the beautiful when cancer sucked the life out of us. Now, I hope to continue the journey and share my captures with interior decorators, interior designers, folks looking to bring nature into their living and working spaces, and continue learning, growing and figuring out how to make this all work. LOL! There are so many Wonderfully talented folks in this community....I am grateful to be among you. :)
4
Hi Stacey! I love your photos! I’m glad you’ve found some peace in a hectic life by being creative! I’m Dawn from upstate NY, also joined this thread. I try in my work to provide a peaceful, restful place for viewers to pause in my paintings. Your pieces have the same kind of feel to them. ❤️
0
thanks so much. Yes, your art is lovely and soothing. Thank you for sharing. I hope we both find great success here. :)

Thanks for sharing!

Hi, I'm Denise Dethlefsen, an art photographer based in Colorado Springs, at the foot of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. I started out doing mostly nature and outdoor photography, but I'm finding that I'm leaning more toward artistically documenting abandoned, run-down, or disused places and infrastructure. My goal is to make art that's appreciated in two very different types of venues -- contemporary, minimalist office spaces, and softer, more serene wellness spaces. Is that sort of dichotomy a little split-personality? ;-)

I'm looking for organizations that need/want art for public locations. And I'm looking for other artists to bounce ideas off of, to receive honest critique from, and to nudge me forward when I get stuck.
4
Lidia BartlamMar 10, 2026
Hey Denise you've probably become aware of this in the meantime but there's a huge subculture and community online (probably Reddit) of people who love exploring abandoned places. I'm not involved but I find videos and photographs of that stuff absolutely fascinating.
3
I have checked out some of the sub-reddits of abandoned buildings and such. But overall, I found I'm not a fan of Reddit, and only look at it now and then. I tried hard to follow the Find Your Niche suggestions, but where they concentrated on Reddit, I got a bit frustrated.
1
I agree, Denise. I did the same with the Niche suggestions, and I've had the same experience with Reddit. I feel stymied with this issue too. I looked at your work and it is just wonderful, and I love that you provide story and the emotional connection in the description, because I think a lot of us have to connect emotionally to a subject and a piece of art.

Hi Denise, love your work!

Hi, I’m a photographer from New Hampshire. I like to make photos of back roads, small towns and every day places. I’m recently retired and now have all the time I need to put into my website and marketing. I’ve been hitting some roadblocks but plodding along.
3
I feel you there...the marketing is harder than the photography!!! Happy retirement. :)

By the way, your work is very cool....vintage...love it!

Hi! I especially love your old car images. I did a series of painting of old tractors and vehicles. I’m checking out those who joined this thread. ☺️

Well, I'm late today, but happy to join this thread.

What you make and where you're based:

I'm a photographer from back in the film days, "retired" so I can do it again, I hope! Had to make regular money for a while. I've got the ASF site https://www.chrisboese.photo, which is also called "Boese Galleries," because I have galleries for two other photographers and one painter. I have the boesegalleries.com domain, but I haven't mapped it yet.

I used to be based in the Greater NYC area (NJ the last 7 years), but last year I moved to Massachusetts.

What kind of connections you're looking for (collaborators, community, feedback, friends, all of the above):

I like all kinds of connections, and enjoy the weekly support calls, Copilot calls, all the things. I like Small Wins too, seeing what others are doing. I'm just sort of playing this by ear, but I love it.

Three things I'm working on right now:

I worked until 3am the other night, setting up a special Winter-Spring original art sale for my painter, Janet Dyer (https://www.chrisboese.photo/janet-dyer-studio-originals).

I missed today's 4p call, because I was sneezing out a goofy essay for a new "Team Human" channel in Communities (https://www.arthelper.com/community/teamhuman) to talk about philosophical issues relating to human vs machine creativity and capabilities. I never know when one of those essays is going to show up!

And lastly, I am VERY PROUD of myself for figuring out how to put the new green "Human-Made" badge on my site. Took a little while, but the only way I can currently do it is by pasting the script into each individual page under Head Scripts. Seems to work, tho! Love how it looks!
2
Wonderful! I am still trying to figure out how to add the Human Made badge to my website. I'd thought it was automatic once you were verified. Still not completely sure but I will give your method a try.
1
This is all great. The community I created is exactly for this. Questions on how to put the logo on our website. A place where we as a community can share our best practices on how to do something & if we can't we ask a ASF team member. I personally haven't tried to add the "Human Made" logo yet, but I can pose the question this Community. https://www.arthelper.com/community/communityleadsupport
Let's see if it works. :)
2
THANK YOU!!!
1
You can see on my site here that it works! https://www.chrisboese.photo/shop-art

Just copy the script, then go to Pages, click on your top page, select Scripts Tab, and paste it into the Head script field. Then work your way down each page you want it to appear on.

Good afternoon from New York. I am a photographer that captures the every day things of life in a way that brings them to the forefront in a unique way. You will see lots of flowers. :)
Working on right now: I am going thru lots of pictures that I have captured throughout last year and working on them. Time just flys. I have ideas that I capture and then don't get the time to work on them. So that is my focus right now before it gets warm. Also, getting my work seen more, so reaching out to establishments ; more so libraries at the moment.
The connections looking for: All of the above. :)
2
This is inspiring. I really struggle with self-promotion in person...reaching out to establishments, etc. In my hometown of Santa Barbara, I knew everyone and every establishment. In Utah, the town is sprawling and feels more disconnected to me.
1
Thanks. Me too. I kind of started with places I go for appointments, eat, etc. There I’ve already built a rapport. So I was able to push myself to ask them. As long as some of my stuff fits their aesthetic.
0
Thank you! Great Idea. I will try. I appreciate it!!

I paint in watercolors and soft pastels. I'm wondering if anyone is interested in getting together IRL for a couple of days to co-create new works and then co-market them. I'm based out on the east end of Long Island in NY. I'm thinking a sort of "retreat" for 1-2 days for 2-4 of us. I've got various ideas. If anyone is interested, speak up!
2
Sounds fun! Alas, I'm in Utah! Your art is beautiful. Having this community is really inspiring me in so many ways!

TOM ANGMar 11, 2026
Based in the paradise otherwise known as New Zealand (Auckland specifically). Work in bundle of ways: photography, asemic calligraphy and marking, collage, still life, inks.
I believe we all benefit from connection of any kind as that multiplies the powers that I think the world much needs: creation of beauty, revelation leading to awe and gratitude, celebration of our precious wee planet.
Already, I feel a different vibration in this community that is different from the big social media.
Preparing for new collages in my ReConstructs series.

Hi Tom. Beaufiful work - lots of energy in your pieces. ❤️

Paradise indeed! One day I will get there! I really love your works -- especially what I'm guessing are your most recent ones — the muted brown / gold /blues / oranges -- the geometry and shapes are spectacular.

Thank you so much for your many 'Likes'! And I can see from your work you're GONNA love New Zealand! The works in the set 'Kupu' are aigenics based on Māori sayings.

Hi friends,
- I'm Tracy and am based in California.

-I'm looking for community and artist friends. Maybe feedback.

-I'm working on a Floral collection that is set to release on March 20th.
2
Hi Tracey. I could live in your peaceful shots! Beautiful! Hope your release goes well and you make lots of people happy with your gorgeous images.

Thank you!

I create abstract art using color makers, oil pastels and acrylic paint on canvas.

Looking for community which could lead to new friends. Collaboration is always an option.

Currently in a Kandinsky like style.
2
Nice work, Rick! Checking out those who joined this community. ☺️

Hi to Dawn from another Dawn! I’ll look you up. I’m farther down this thread.

Hi Dawn, I am new to this platform too and not yet seeing results but remain hopeful. You have some amazing captures of wildlife....I especially love your whale shots. I LOVE whales. I hope we all manage to succeed here together.

What a fun idea! I'm Kelly, and I'm a photographer on the central coast of Oregon (in a tiny town called Waldport). If there are any other nature/wildlife photographers from the central coast area on here, I would love to chat and compare notes. (What I'm currently working on is a booth shot for art fair applications. But that's the least intersting thing I can think of talking about.) Thanks!
2
Janie LynnMar 11, 2026
I am here in Oregon. I have not ventured into wildlife much, but nature and landscapes are more where I sit. I have also gone back to my style of mixing photos and creating feeling. Emotion based in guess you could say.

I’m working on a couple of pieces I started in Cabo along with finishing my design website where I can also link my art. It’s a lot but patience keeps being the key here.

Welcome, Cindy! Love the super close up of the horse's face. So interesting!

I'm Kathryn and I have been a working artist from 1968 with some years of just sketching and doing tiny pieces. When i was younger i used junk mail to draw people, and lived on a farm, so i would draw in the dirt, sculpt sand stones and soap. I was not encouraged to enter a creative field, all my siblings were scientists, my dad was a writer and a photographer, (during the depression) and he didn't make a living doing that, he was a construction worker and surveyor.
I went to a small graphic arts school in Philadelphia and worked in advertising, and learned a lot of skills from artists I met. I hungered for freedom to create. During the recession of the early 70's I went to college. Took art courses and found freedom to just create. It was short lived, but i found that that was something i would work towards.
I have had a large studio a couple of times in my life, and today I don't. So even though I love to do large pieces, i have adapted to small pieces. I find that they are more ecologically suited for this time and also for tiny homes. Although selling my art was always the goal, as i am quite productive, I found that the cost of making it, and the time to sell it just was always difficult and challenging. My art hasn't had a wide appeal, but have shown my work in many big and small venues, as well as Syracuse's Everson Museum.

I am 76 today and soon will be 77. I had to get some joints replaced and it took a while to recover from that. During that time, I worked through the most difficult creative period I have ever experienced. 8 years of work that was experimental, and not very aesthetically pleasing. I broke all the rules i had about art and all the color rules and habits i had. Writers block is one thing I could relate to. About a year ago, i felt the embers smolder and the creative energy building. I am incorporating new and old attitudes of how to create art. Still experimenting, and finding joy once again in color.
A year ago, I kept seeing artists pop up with their recommendations of how great it was to have ASF help them with their art business. I reached out last Summer and received info about it, but thought, i can't afford this. In December, I investigated again, signed up and now I've been live for 2 months.

I want to put more originals up and realize I have to take more pictures. I had a friend that helped me with tech work for my website in 2012. He went mad and deleted all of my professionally shot photos of my art. So, I can remedy this and shoot them outside. I am realizing all this is possible. Arduous, but possible.

ASF has given me a lot of courage, to fight the feelings of I'm too old, I have so much to do to get my best work out there; it also has given me hope. I am so impressed with all of the creative's I see and the people that help us grow. I get tired and take some time to paint and wash dishes, vacuum, but no longer think that I will die tomorrow and this is all for naught. Life is so precious. My mom lived to be 98, in good spirits with a sound mind. I hope that I can have another 20 good years or more. What ever the case may be, I am not concerned with anything but-"What's next." A quote from Steve Jobs!
1
So Taylor, are you intending to post one of these every Tuesday, sort of like Small Wins?

Hi. I’m Donna Renée Turan (Lady Reborn Art) a mixed media painter based in upstate New York. I’m originally from Long Island and moved to a little town in the middle of the woods near Saratoga almost 10 years ago. I spend winter months in the Florida Keys because I can’t function in the cold.

I make “witness art” — animals, human figures, and layered surfaces that hold the weight of survival, identity, and starting over.

I’m here to connect with artists making emotionally honest work — especially around psychology, resilience, myth, nature, or transformation.

Right now I’m working on a small dark piece as a social commentary for the upcoming US birthday this July. I’m also working on an octopus I’m painting on a mirror frame and about 7 other pieces simultaneously. Some may get finished. Some won’t.

If that sounds like you’re kind of thing, I’d love to see what you’re making. I’m open to all types of collabs-so reach out if you think our work might mesh well together 💚
1
Hi Donna. I had to check you out for a couple of reasons… your upstate NY (I’m between Syracuse and Rochester in a little town called Newark) and the lady reborn part of your business name, as I’m reborn too in a couple of ways - left a very negative husband to find a pretty positive guy - which makes me much happier. Also, I recently retired and I’m just really getting up to speed with creating, showing, a new website, etc. My paintings reflect peace and comfort (I think) which is what I want in life. Your words and images resonated with me. 🥰 A kindred spirit…
1
So great to hear from you Dawn! I did three shows last year in your area (none were very lucrative) winefests in Syracuse and Rochester and Art Barn at Grassroots Festival. (Specifically art barn was terrible how they handled my display-FYI)

The reborn name in my business comes from my actual name. Donna means lady, Renée means reborn. I’m constantly exploring rebirth within my art and my self.

Feel free to reach out any time to collaborate or just art together. I’m always looking for new friends, and have very few in upstate NY.
1
Which wine fests did you do? I’m not one for standing in a booth, so I’ve never sold my work that way. I would hate to put all that energy and cash into that and get nothing out of it! We sometimes go to winefests though and drink wine! There is an art event I saw coming up for Saratoga. Sometimes I enter those juried contests. Entered one in Old Forge last year and won an award. So much travel though if you don’t want to ship. Like your booth, I can’t imagine anyone taking better care of my paintings than I would, so I don’t ship work. Thanks for your response! ❤️
1
I did the Empire State Wine Events ones last year. I met some great people and it was low cost, but the distance for me didnt make it worth while..... even though I did get a larger follow up sale months later.

I thought I would hate in-person events because Im so socially awkward at times, but honestly theyre great and they really helped me and my collectors connect.

In case you ever consider it, I was very disappointed in the ArtBarn at the Grassroots Festival. I dropped off my art. When I went to pick it up, my smallest piece was hung 9ft up in the air. I'm 5'3". I asked if they had a ladder or chair so I could take it down. They didnt. They found a two step step stool. I still couldnt reach the bottom. Then they suggested i tap my art off the nail with a broom handle and stand underneath and catch it. 😒

Which event in Saratoga were you looking at? I'm in a few
1
It was a watercolor competition in a gallery, I believe. I haven’t sent any images in to be juried yet. If i get accepted, it’s a lot of running!
I’m sorry about the handling of your work. How disrespectful!
0
Ooh, I love this! I am looking forward to following your work!

Thank you!!! Following back! ❤️

Hello! Glad to be here! I’m in Wimberley Texas, USA

Hi, I’m Diana. I’m a photographer based out of Toronto, Canada. I like to shoot what catches my eye. I also like taking my photographs and creating digital art with them. Currently I’m working on a piece that I am attaching to an AR medium so it can be viewed anywhere in the world. Really excited to be here and looking for friends, community, collabs and feedback!
1
Oooo....what is an AR medium? That sounds amazing. I too like to capture what captures my eye.
0
Your work is wonderful....so creative and vibrant. Wow!
1
Thank you so much! Really happy you like it! Your work is also really beautiful! I feel we have a lot in common. I also like to wander the world taking photos! Really nice meeting you!
1
AR is augmented reality so it’s a way for people to see your art in whatever space they find themselves in. Like the tools for people to view what your art would look like on their walls. But you can also use it in outdoor spaces, pretty much anywhere. People will view it through their phone camera lens. It’s very cool.
0
Hmm. Where do I find that?
0
Hi. I’m Dawn from Upstate NY in the Finger Lakes region. Been painting almost nonstop since I retired a couple years ago. I got serious about 18 months ago and started showing work, set up my website, entered juried shows (won a couple awards). I’m looking to grow my audience, make new friends, sell some art because my house is jammed and there’s no more space. www.dawnemiranda.com

Hi All! I'm working on some expressive abstract paintings of landscapes, and reef for a small art fair in 2 weeks.
I'm looking to connect with people who resonate with this kind of work, and with fellow Australians (because timezones) :)
1
Hi I'm Terrill, an acrylic painter in Prince George BC. Today I set up my Wildlife Cafe series exhibit at our Studio 2880 gift shop, home of our Community Arts Council. My talk is this Thursday night. Any pointers on how not to be so nervous before the talk would be appreciated.

Hey, very exciting new stuff here! I've created a community called Art From
Nature! Hoping other will join! Indra Castillo (ASF staff) did already!
I'm a mixed media artist and currently did 2 new experimental pieces with driftwood, shells and other beachy collections on one of my recent beach ventures to Rockaway Beach in Oregon. Applied for 2 big art shows in Oregon ...a big step for me!

BRENDA ANDERSONMar 23, 2026
Hi, I’m Brenda Anderson, retired and living in NW Arkansas. I’ve recently decided to market my art. I had a website built, joined a local art group and have my art in a member exhibit and also joined a gallery. I know this is a slow time of the year, but, I’d love more activity and sales. I post on social media usually twice a week. Get lots of lookers, but no buyers.

Hi. I'm Kim from Texas. I am a long time Musician and new baby Artist (3yrs). I have always been drawn to art - my Great Grandparents were both artists out of the UK. In the past few years, I was diagnosed with Lupus (autoimmune) and had to slow down my musical career - almost to a halt. I was desperate for an artistic outlet - I needed to create. So, I picked up the brush and turned on YouTube so I could learn to paint. Watercolor is my favorite medium, the paint flows just like music and I have really connected with this type of medium. Excited to learn more. Nice to meet everyone. 😊

I'm a watercolour artist who doesn't use a brush. I press botanicals into watery paint from Canada—Vancouver, originally, but now in Moncton, New Brunswick on the opposite coast. I'm looking to make friends, see what others from Art Storefronts are up to (I am so glad we have this now!) and if I could ever get through the admin that I have to do, I'd love to actually be painting! I've only really done colour and back to basics experiments, since 2025 was all about getting ready to offer my paintings for sale.

Right, right now, I'm running a small promotion called Wintering in the Deep on Insta, Facebook, Substack, and email to get the word out about my paintings. It's going pretty well, I think. I am offering a print of choice between the four paintings that are bring us closer to the end of winter and the spring of new beginnings.

I might be the youngest one here 😅.
Soo, hello :)) I'm Stefanija I'm 17 years old and I'm from Bitola.

I enjoy adding a LOT of color in my work and drawing what I see ;).
I would say that I like to experiment with my art and don't like to start out the same way. I prefer to experiment with it.
In a way that every single subject, perspective and line hides a different story that a person can interprete in there own way.

I already post most of my art here, though if you want to see some more feel free to follow me on IG: spookeys.art :))

p.s I promise that my art is not scary ;)))

Thank you for bringing this to my attention I had no Idea I was private.I have been trying to make this public but finding it hard to chant to public as it keeps stating private .Can someone please advise .Many thanks Josie

Hello everyone — Anne Reid here.

I’m a contemporary abstract painter working primarily with layered glazes and atmospheric light. My work explores themes of presence, spiritual tension, and what I often describe as the “God-colors” in the world. I’m based in Ontario, Canada.

I’m interested in connecting with other artists who are serious about the craft of painting and the deeper questions around art, meaning, and human creativity — especially in a time when AI is changing the landscape.

Right now I’m working on the first piece in a new studio sequence for 2026, a teal-dominant painting focused on light emerging through layered atmosphere.

Looking forward to meeting others in the community and seeing what everyone is working on.

Greetings- I'm Deb from the East Bay in CA. I am a mixed media artist and currently working on 3 different series. An aesthetically pleasing, political crow series, a 1920's inspired crows as jewelry thieves series and a series of fierce woman portraits that I'm painting to all my favorite female singers. First one is "Never was a cornflake girl".
I'm looking for local places to have a show in July and also to bounce ideas off other artists. And I'm always up for for local classes to take especially drawing and painting live models.

Currently in Southern Utah (7 yrs), I grew up in southern California, from Silverlake/LosFeliz/Hollywood to 45 years in Santa Barbara. Retired from 38 years of teaching now, I'm a painter mostly, watercolors my first love, but oils and acrylics too for different reasons. I use whichever medium feels right for the emotions I'm feeling and the subject matter. In addition to several oil paintings going at once (sort of open impressionism I guess), I'm currently working on an illustrated memoir and blog, in which I include my art and some comical illustrations because who says picture books are just for kids, right?! I love this community because I'm rather shy and solitary, and I don't really ever hear feedback on my art. I am inspired by all of you and really do listen and ponder your feedback!

I am Anna at Anna.johansson.art on Instagram and seedsofbhakti.com at Artstorefronts. I am also a Bhaktiyoga practitioner and my art is deeply connected to my spiritual journey and this ancient yoga tradition. I love watercolor art, I also love pencil and ink. I appreciate any art that is sincere and beautifully executed.

Right now I am planning 3 watercolor paintings. Hopefully starting with two of them next week. I will try to record most of my steps with these paintings (a bit nervous) for posting on Instagram and fb. Looking for friends and well wishers in the art community. Can I really do this????

G'day Jo. You know your profile is set to private? So we can't see your work. If that's what you intend, all good.

I second Tom's comment. Would love to see your work, but you haven't made your profile public yet, so we can't. :-(

I make art. Mixed media, acrylics, collage, prints, and needle art of various sorts. I have been working on a landscape abstract work of nowhere for a month or two. I think it's finished today. It's in the style of Gareth Edwards based on his book.

Ronald Johnson Mar 10, 2026
Hello! I'm Ron, a painter in La Center, WA, working in acrylic, oil, and mixed media. My work is heavily textured and layered, centered on themes of healing and light.

I’m currently developing a series that traces a path from chaos to calm. I'm currently finishing a self-portrait inspired by Byzantine Iconography, but I’m swapping religious imagery for natural elements—specifically using sunflowers as halos.

I’m here for community and feedback! Does anyone else here use historical art styles to explore modern, personal themes?
