Legacy of Love, the ninth work in my Faith Series, reflects on the commandment to honor our parents and the enduring influence of a parent’s love. While traveling through Santa Rosa, New Mexico, I discovered the nearly forgotten Santa Rosa de Lima Chapel, built by a devoted son in honor of his mother and now standing as a lasting act of gratitude and remembrance. The Marian image, photographed unexpectedly in a small sandwich shop in northern New Mexico, shows Mary cradling the Christ Child and speaks to the earliest lessons of love, compassion, faith, and belonging. Blended together, the images create a conversation between generations, reminding us that the love we receive can become the legacy of faith, honor, and care that we carry forward.
