This acrylic painting captures a peaceful spot along the Fraser River near Robson Meadows Campground — a place my wife and I visited on a hot summer day. We came across someone sitting in the shade, quietly reading, and we were struck by the simple wisdom of that choice: cool water, filtered light, and stillness. Located a short distance from the Mt. Robson visitor centre, this spot is close to the trailhead of the Overlander Falls Trail , one of the most beautiful, easy hikes in the Robson Valley. I painted this scene to express not just the geography of the place, but the feeling of it .
In creating this piece, I worked to capture the richness of the light, the depth of space, and the feeling that would make you want to step into the scene and stay a while. I worked to expand my ability to paint expressively and convey atmosphere while still capturing key details and remaining true to my style.
