While Mine Okubo, a Japanese American artist, studied in Paris, the Germans invaded Poland and she had to leave. Returning to her home in California, she and her family were rounded up and taken to a concentration camp near Delta in Central Utah. There, in spite of the terrible conditions, she flourished as an artist. Did she dream of Paris, the dusty wind transforming into a sky of stars?
