This painting shows Aslan standing over the broken Stone Table after defeating death. I’ve always been drawn to this moment in The Chronicles of Narnia because the victory doesn’t come with spectacle. It’s already been decided.
The Stone Table lies shattered beneath him, not as a sign of destruction, but of finality undone. Aslan’s posture isn’t defensive or triumphant, it’s confident. The kind of confidence that comes from knowing the hardest part is already over.
This piece is about victory that doesn’t need to shout. Strength rooted in sacrifice. Hope that feels settled, not fragile
