Description
In “Spring Supper: Dandelion and Morel,” Don Gauger uses a single place setting to tell a story about hidden systems of land, season, and sustenance. Viewed from above, an oval wooden table becomes a stage for a modest meal: a scalloped white dish of dandelion leaves and a single morel mushroom, aligned beneath a lit candle in a glass candlestick. Simple objects—a green pitcher, a small glass, a knife, a folded napkin and fork—are placed with deliberate spacing, turning the tabletop into a quiet diagram of one person’s relationship to the food in front of them.
