Alain is a portrait created in memory of a man whose presence was defined by faith, devotion, and joy.
Although I never met Alain in person, I came to know him through the stories, images, and music he loved — studying his headshot, watching his memorial video on repeat, and painting while listening to artists that mattered to him, from Nat King Cole to Prince. Over time, the work became a reflection of the essence I felt as I interpreted his image in collage and paint.
This portrait was created for his family, with the hope that it holds both comfort and light. Alain’s smile and his energy are so vibrant--a perfect match for the bold technique I love to use.
