The Sphinx sits firmly at the door of the Brunswig Mausoleum in the Metarie Cemetery in New Orleans. Made of sparkling crystalline soft marble, the face of the Sphinx is magnificently carved. Over a century of weather and air pollution have caused a crack right through the face of the Sphinx yet it only makes it more fascinating, not less.
