Orchids love the climate in Hawaii.
Only three species of orchids are native to the islands of Hawaii, but other non-native species have been introduced and do very well here. The Big Island of Hawaii is known as the Orchid Isle as it boasts a thriving orchid exporting industry, gaining international attention at the World Orchid Conference of 1957 which was held in Honolulu. This orchid here got it's start in a little greenhouse at my home in Kailua.
