Beschreibung
This artwork is a meditation on the rhythms of Cape Town’s seasons—where the fynbos on Table Mountain endures the fierce heat and cleansing fires of the dry months, only to be reborn with the arrival of the rains. On one side, textured layers evoke the charred resilience of the land, marked by fire and drought. On the other, deep blues flow through the composition, symbolizing the life-giving sea, the coastline’s embrace, and the promise of renewal as rain returns.
Through cold wax, oils, pigment powder, and rice paper, each surface tells a story of survival and transformation. The interplay of dark and light, earth and water, speaks to the enduring spirit of the Cape—where destruction and regeneration are woven together, and new life always emerges from the ashes. This piece invites you to reflect on nature’s cycles, the beauty of resilience, and the quiet hope that follows every storm.
