Refuge is a large-scale abstract painting, measuring 2 x 2 meters, created with natural pigments, linseed oil, and oil bars. The work was developed through an intuitive process, where spontaneous gesture and controlled composition meet. Stoop respects the invisible structures that guide our perception, yet deliberately attempts to move beyond them. In doing so, the painting does not simply present a visual balance but opens the possibility of a wider, mental landscape. The title Refuge suggests a place of retreat, and the painting embodies exactly that: a space where the mind can take shelter from limitations, external pressures, and the endless obligations of daily life. The layers of color and texture are not just material, but also symbolic, pointing to the tension between boundaries and freedom. This tension creates a subtle dynamic that draws the viewer inward, inviting them to linger and experience another rhythm of perception. Rather than offering a literal image, the painting proposes an encounter — an experience of stepping outside the habitual way of sensing the world. For a brief moment, the viewer may find themselves immersed in a different state of awareness, where thought, feeling, and perception shift into a more open and expansive dimension. Refuge is thus both an abstract composition and an inner space, a work of art that seeks to protect, to transform, and to remind us of the possibility of renewal within ourselves.
I consider myself as a traveler and observer, expressing my reality and relation with the universe through painting.
