I work primarily in colored pencil on paper, combining Micron ink to create precise lines of detail in my drawings for my coloring books. My artwork moves between natural wildlife observation and decorative composition. In this drawing the use of a flurry of swirling autumn leaves envelopes this huge buck giving a feeling of quiet escape deep into the forest.
I want my art to capture these moments with clarity to the viewer to create a sense of awareness of the beauty and majesty of this animal.
Through multiple forms of layering my colors lets me express subtle color shifts and the interplay between solidity and air. Each piece allows me to exhibit a balance between study and design, inviting a renewed awareness of ordinary wildness.
