From the shadow of the cave, human eyes learned to yearn for the light. The sun was gold in motion. A god crossing the sky each day. It wasn't enough to simply look at it. They wanted to understand it, worship it, possess it. Thus, gold, like the sun, was sacred from the beginning. Learning to obtain it was an act of devotion.
