I would later calmly torture myself.
I recently finished reading Ernesto Sabato's *The Tunnel*, which left me both worried and confused, and I think it's important to talk about these things: about toxic relationships that destroy and, when they go too far, kill. It's interesting how, from the very beginning of the book, we know a crime will occur, and yet, when it does, it takes us completely by surprise: I think that's often the case with these kinds of relationships.
In this series, I explore the mind of Castel, the narrator and obsessive, but also a broader form of obsession: the kind that clouds the glass of reality and confuses control with love. Castel doesn't fall in love with María, but with a projection. María functions as an empty vessel that he fills with his surveillance, his assumptions, his need for meaning. She had to exist as he imagined her; every gesture of hers was, inevitably, related to him.
