Pt 2 of a large scale commission I did last winter, this was just under 7’ tall
That's a serious scale. I'm curious what the process was like for keeping the composition balanced when you can't step back far enough in the workspace to see it whole. Did you work from scaled studies or just trust the proportions as you went?
That scale must have changed how you approached the whole piece. I worked on something about half that size once and had to step back constantly just to see if the composition still held together from a distance. Did you end up adjusting anything once you could finally see it from across the room?
It was a lot of taking pictures from across the room, to look at it as a whole, then making adjustments from there. Although it’s not too different from work I’ve done on murals.
