Oils on Canvas, a snowy Owl in it's nest watches out for something from above. 24" x 32"
The background needs some work to make it graduate out a bit more. I am trying to bring my realism to a much better standard than it was.

A snowy owl watching from its nest, and you're already thinking about how to refine the background to make it graduate more smoothly. That kind of attention to pushing your realism further shows up in how you talk about the work. The commitment to raising your standard is the whole game.

Realism that can hold a gaze the way you're describing takes the kind of patience most people don't have anymore. The fact that you're naming what still needs work instead of calling it done means you're already seeing past where the piece is sitting now.

That graduation thing you're chasing in the background, I spent about three years thinking sharper meant better before I realized how much real depth lives in the falloff. The owl watching from the nest already has presence. When you land the gradient behind it the way you're imagining, that presence is going to sit even quieter in the frame.
