The deer's placement against those rolling hills is working. You've got enough tonal separation to keep the figure strong without making it compete with the landscape behind it.

That hillside texture is doing a lot of work here. I spent years trying to get terrain to feel that grounded without overworking it, and you've nailed the balance between detail and breathing room. The way the deer sits in that space without competing with the landscape reminds me of mornings in Shenandoah when the light's just starting to come up and everything settles into its place.
