Hello, Sydney artists! Arty here, and the last two weeks of June are genuinely packed with places to put your work in front of real buyers. Whether you have never set up a market stall in your life or you are hunting for a juried exhibition slot, there is something below that fits. Let's go through it from the easiest, most local options first and work our way up.

🟢 Easiest to Start (beginner-friendly, low cost)

• Artisans in the Park / Tramsheds, Stallholder Applications Open Now (beginner-friendly, stall fees AUD $70–$120). Applications for their September 5 market are open from June 13 through June 28, so this fortnight is your window. It is a not-for-profit market at an air-conditioned, undercover venue in Forest Lodge, which means no weather stress on the day. Lower-level stalls are just $70 for a 2x1 m space with a table included, and upper-level 2x2 m stalls run $120. They welcome new and emerging makers right alongside regulars, and every dollar supports local charities and schools. A lovely first market if you have never done one.

• Kirribilli Markets, Art, Design & Fashion, 27 June 2026 (beginner to intermediate, stall fees apply). The next market is June 27, right under the Harbour Bridge at Bradfield Park. With over 220 stalls, this is one of Sydney's oldest and most beloved community markets, and the Burton Street Tunnel section is dedicated exclusively to artisan-made products. You can book a stall online or arrive early and join the day waitlist at 8:45 am if a booked stall goes unclaimed. New stall fee rates came into effect June 1, 2026, so check the website for the current price. All proceeds support the Kirribilli Neighbourhood Centre.

• Paddington Markets, Every Saturday (June 21 and June 28), plus Vintage Pop-Up June 20 (open to all levels, around AUD $92 per stall day). Open every Saturday rain or shine at 395 Oxford Street since 1973, this market runs 10am to 4pm and is actively looking for more stallholders right now. With over 150 stalls covering art, clothing, jewellery and homewares, the foot traffic is reliable and the crowd is genuinely there to buy. Apply via the online stallholder portal, have photos of your work ready, and you could be set up as soon as the following Saturday. The June 20 Vintage Pop-Up is a nice bonus foot-traffic day for artists with a vintage or archival aesthetic.

🟡 Step-Up Markets (curated, bigger crowds)

• Inner West Artist Market (IWAM), Join the Artist List for Future Dates (emerging to established, varied fees). IWAM holds curated markets at artist-run spaces and community events across the Inner West and Greater Sydney, and they offer a range of fees and stall options so that artists at all stages can participate. There is no confirmed June date in this window, but joining their Artist List now means you will be two months ahead of the next market announcement. The vibe is genuinely community-led and the crowds love it.

• Coal Loader Artisans Market, Expression of Interest Open Year-Round (emerging to established, EOI free). This seasonal market at the historic Coal Loader site in Waverton features original handmade products from artists, ceramicists, designers and makers. The next market was June 7 (just past), but expressions of interest for future dates are open right now. It is a beautiful, all-weather venue a six-minute walk from Waverton station, and it is one of the most genuinely lovely market settings in Sydney.

📢 Open Calls and Databases

• Artenda, Sydney Exhibition Open Call, Deadline June 26, 2026 (all levels, fee to be confirmed on the listing). Artenda's live listing board shows an open call specifically located in Sydney with a AUD $10,000 budget and a deadline of June 26. It accepts a wide range of mediums including painting, digital, photography, printmaking, installation, sculpture, textile art and ceramics, with no stated theme. Head straight to Artenda and filter by location: Sydney to find the full submission details before the deadline passes.

• Tin Sheds Gallery, 2026 Exhibition Programme Open Call (Rolling) (all levels, no fee listed). The University of Sydney's Tin Sheds Gallery invites artists, curators, researchers and designers to submit exhibition proposals for their 2026 programme. Funding and other resources are available to successful applicants. Download the Info Pack from the page, then submit your proposal via the online form. This is a genuine public gallery slot, not a vanity show, so if you have a concept that is ready to pitch, now is the time.

• Museums and Galleries NSW (MGNSW), Ongoing Opportunities Board (all levels, varies). MGNSW maintains a live rolling list of opportunities for NSW artists, ranging from commissions and grants to exhibition calls. Bookmark it and check weekly. It is one of the most reliable aggregators for opportunities that are genuinely relevant to Sydney-based artists rather than international calls stuffed with irrelevant listings.

💡 Beyond the Booth: Real Ways Sydney Artists Sell

• Art Out Sydney, Café and Bar Consignment Wall Map (beginner-friendly, low to no cost). Art Out Sydney maps local, emerging and established artists showing in non-traditional spaces across inner Sydney, from Paddington and Surry Hills to Redfern and beyond. The model is simple: walk into a café you love, look at their walls, and if the space suits your work, introduce yourself. Many Sydney cafés and independent restaurants actively rotate local art on their walls, take a small commission on sales (usually 20 to 30 percent), and let you keep a sign-up sheet for your mailing list. Every stall or café show you do is also a list-building moment. A folded postcard on your table, a QR code to a simple landing page, a friendly chat before someone walks away: those contacts are worth more long-term than any single sale.

• Inner West Council Perfect Match Street Art Program (emerging to mid-career, commission paid to artist). Inner West Council's flagship public art program matches artists with property owners who want a mural painted on their public-facing wall. Council funds installation costs including scissor lift hire and an anti-graffiti coating. If you work at mural or large-format scale, submitting an artist application to Perfect Match is a legitimate way to get a major, visible, paid piece in the Inner West. Read the guidelines PDF before applying, as the eligibility criteria are specific to the Inner West LGA.

• Pop-Up Shows at Tramsheds and Other Precincts (Ongoing). Tramsheds in Forest Lodge runs a weekly growers and artisan market every Saturday and Sunday, and the dining precinct's 11 restaurants and cafes are part of a community-minded venue that is genuinely open to hosting pop-up events. Approach venue managers directly with a clear, visual one-page proposal: your work, your price range, the dates you want, and what you bring to their space. The under-$100 price point on smaller works (prints, cards, original studies) consistently sells at these casual weekend venues because buyers feel comfortable saying yes without overthinking it.

🚗 Worth the Drive (These Skew More Established)

• Affordable Art Fair Sydney, Applications for November 2026 (Gallery Representation Required) (established, gallery-represented artists). The Affordable Art Fair returns to Carriageworks in November 2026, and it is worth knowing about now because galleries typically lock in artists months ahead. All works are priced between AUD $100 and $10,000, and the fair specifically features a curated emerging talent showcase. If you are not yet gallery-represented, now is a smart time to start those conversations. This is not a DIY booth situation, but it is the most collector-dense event on the Sydney calendar this year.

• Epson International Pano Awards, Deadline Approaching, Winners Exhibited at Botanic Gardens of Sydney (established photographers, entry fee applies). Winners of this international panoramic photography competition are exhibited at the Garden Gallery at the Botanic Gardens of Sydney, and a silent auction supports the Rainforest Seed Conservation Project. The prize pool is $50,000 USD and there is a new aerial category this year. If your practice includes panoramic or landscape photography, this is a genuinely prestigious international call with a Sydney exhibition outcome.
