The Vanishing Point

Post image 1

I just cannot resist opportunities to capture an image like this which takes you through perspective symmetrically to the "vanishing point".

This is under a bridge in Boston. Black and White to get you to see the textures and form.

Do you enjoy "vanishing point" images?

The black and white is the right call here, you get the geometry without the distraction. I've stood under a few bridges thinking the same thing, that pull toward the center. Symmetry does most of the work when you let it.

Boston has good bridges for this. The infrastructure under them rarely gets the respect it deserves, you're reading it right, letting the form speak. I chase vanishing points in canyon roads at night sometimes, where the only lines are the faint road edge and the stars overhead pulling you in. Same draw.

Kristofer, good to hear from someone who enjoys capturing these types of images. Thank you.

Canyon roads at night hit different than bridges, but the pull is identical. That geometry just works.
