The way you describe that in-between space, the weight it carries in black and white, that's the part I always find hardest to articulate about my own work. I spend so much time on gesture and proportion that I forget the quiet stuff, the pauses between marks, can hold just as much intention. Your framing makes me think about negative space differently, not just compositionally but conceptually. The tension you're describing sounds like it's less about what's drawn and more about what's held back, and I'm curious how that restraint plays out visually. Do you find working in monochrome helps you sit with that stillness, or does it come from somewhere else in your process?
Dat is mooi gezegd, en het raakt voor mij aan de kern van mijn werk. Zwart-wit helpt me om dichter bij die stilte te blijven, omdat het de aandacht verschuift naar structuur, ademruimte en terughoudendheid. Wat niet getekend wordt, voelt voor mij vaak net zo belangrijk als wat wel zichtbaar is.
