On MAR 6, 1475, Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni was born in the small town of Caprese, Italy. The world gained one of its most transformative artists.

Michelangelo's work would come to define the High Renaissance. His sculptures David and Pietà remain paragons of marble craftsmanship, capturing human emotion and anatomy with unprecedented precision. As a painter, his Sistine Chapel ceiling frescoes, completed over four grueling years, redefined what a single artist could achieve.
