Hey guys. I have a dilemma...which is better, Bluffton Arts and Seafood Festival or Kentuck? I've been invited to both, and have already paid for Kentuck, but if Bluffton is a lot better, I'll take the hit. I'm a fine arts photographer-mostly floral macros and some landscapes. Any advice is appreciated.😊

I haven't done either, but I'd stick with Kentuck since you've already paid. Taking a financial hit when you don't have direct evidence the other one performs better for your work seems like a gamble. If florals and landscapes are your focus, you might ask in some of the photography groups whether either festival skews more toward collectors who buy that kind of work versus people looking for functional art or different subject matter. That's usually the deciding factor for me when choosing festivals.

Thanks! I'm just learning, so don't know much about how all of this works. I did seven fairs in the spring, and have seven more lined up for the fall. I did three in Chicago, which turned out to be a bust. But my son lives there, so I didn't have to pay for a hotel, but the booth fees were outrageous. I'm kind of leaning toward Kentuck. I asked Arty, and that was his advice. haha

I did Kentuck years ago when I was still trying to figure out where my landscape work fit. Solid crowd, good foot traffic, but it skewed a bit more traditional craft than fine art photography in my experience. Haven't done Bluffton myself, so I can't compare directly, but I'd ask around in the photography groups to see if anyone's done both recently. The floral macro work might find a different audience at one versus the other.

Thank you! I asked Arty, and he said my work would do better at Kentuck. One of the event organizers in my city told me I'd likely do better in the South. Never again Chicago.
