Seeking Merch Advice
Thinking about Patrick's advice of offering items in the $1-$100 price range, I feel guilty for not pursuing merch' yet. I offer it, but never promote it. I'd like to hear from the community (especially landscape photographers) what they find are their best selling merch' items.
Currently I offer only tote bags, phone cases, magnets and mugs, but not for every product (horizontal shots don't make for good phone cases).
I plan this week to order examples of my own merch'. And I have no idea if my name will be on them, or not.
Mitch- your photos would look amazing on merch!! And I think the products you selected are perfect, I have a small selection of products and very selective on which products I offer for specific artworks. Mugs with their panoramic ratio often just don’t work for me if I cannot crop a good section… though sometimes I stitch together 2 images of the art to create the art for a mug. And sometimes I add a thick border to an artwork so that I can include the full image on a tote without cropping. The key is to position and lock the image- but you know all this.
I find that the most effective way to market the merch is to actually show the merch! I am never without one of my coffee mugs!
Thanks Hava! I once did position and lock but became lazy and/or forgetful, so back to locking I go.
