Description
"Shadowland" presents a tense meeting of architecture and landscape. Trained as an architect, I worked with measured geometry—angled planes and a compositional rhythm that nods to the golden section—while letting lyric suggestion guide the mood.
I was listening to Lynne Hanson's "Shadowland" as this came together; the song's wandering lines and the feeling of a threshold informed a quiet narrative. A lone figure stands framed in an open doorway, structured lines meeting tangled growth and shadow—an interplay of interior order and the wild just beyond.
This mixed media work is structured from a photograph I took at Bannack Montana that I called “To Nowhere”. Can you tell where the photo ends and the painting and drawing begins?
